If you’re not familiar with the generational divides they are as follows:
- Baby Boomers 1946-1965
- Generation X 1966-1985
- Millenials – 1986-2005
One of the very best things about bloggers is diversity while still remaining a shining example of inclusiveness. It doesn’t matter where you come from, the color of your skin, your gender, your sexual orientation, or even your passion, When you become a blogger you automatically become a part of this vibrant community.
Apparently, though, things have changed drastically during this pandemic. It began as soon as the world stopped. A campaign of hate launched from anonymous sources thrown at an unsuspecting generation who doesn’t deserve it.
I call it “Boomer Bashing”. It’s a trend where Millenials go to Boomer Blogs and leave angry, hate-filled messages. Threatening, violent comments thrown from those angry, hateful little snots that they’ve been spoiling for their entire lives.
Don’t believe it’s coming from your “little angels”? Take a look at these comments that I found on the web.

You baby boomers destroyed your own children’s future, and then laughed about it and blamed it on them. Do you realize that you are going to end up in a retirement home where you are going to get treated like total trash, and abused? Your children won’t be able to help you, even if they wanted to. Karma’s a bitch, you boomer scum.

Baby Boomers are being blamed for:
- The world shutting down.
- The economy downfall.
- Skyrocketing unemployment rates
- Pretty much the state of the world and any and all problems within it.
These attacks are thrown from the anonymity of the web where they show up as comments on the Boomer’s blog for the world to see.
So while we’re dealing with a pandemic, failing leadership, high unemployment rates, social justice, police brutality, racism, homophobia Boomers now need to add “little junior” who sits in his darkened bedroom owned by someone else, using a laptop you probably gifted them launching bombs that they honestly know nothing about.

Hi Rena! Yes I’ve gotten these messages on a semi regular basis but I obviously never let them see the light of day on my own blog. I simply eliminate them in my moderation. But I’m not exactly convinced that they are coming from our juniors. It would be fairly easy to “bot” these messages so they could be coming from other countries attempting to eliminate (or at least discourage) our voices here on the internet. What’s the saying, “Haters gonna hate” so I don’t waste any time with them at all. As an optimist I continue to believe that most people are good and have good intents. As for the rest of them, let’s just ignore their anger. ~Kathy
I’ve gotten them to. Mine was from Amanda Smith and her email bounced back. So dumb.
The web can be a vicious place. I’ve had a few, on both my blogs, not just A Healing Spirit I delete them, but the words are so violent and vicious that they hurt my heart. There’s a meme trending that calls Covid “boomer remover”. But this kind of nastiness is part of the breakdown of societal norms and mores that has happened over the past 4 years. It’s horrifying. No escape, either. Thanks for covering this, Rena!
I had no idea this was happening. Considering that I have quite an expansive reach and the majority are boomers, I haven’t had one person talk about this. You summed it up well: using a laptop you probably gifted them launching bombs that they honestly know nothing about.
Thanks for the heads up.
Well, at least THEY can SPELL!
I worry about this generation not being able to communicate as they only know how to look at their phones!Words get shorten and attitudes are ME ME ME.
THANKS for the WARNING!
